You're likely thinking, "What IS this!?"
Andy IS, your Integration Specialist. ISD200 hired me to be a teacher of teachers as we roll out a new technology plan in the elementary schools. LearnPads, piloted by several teachers at Pinecrest, were so powerful a learning tool that they have been deployed in all first, second, third, and fourth grade classrooms district-wide. Our kindergardeners, not to be forgotten, will be issued mini-sets of iPads (it was determined that the iPad was a better fit at that age). I am your go-to guy if you have "how can I use this" questions pertaining to the new technology. At this point it would be wise for me to be clear about one major point. My position is not IT. Our friends in IT do amazing things to equip us, troubleshoot, install, and generally maintain our digital infrastructure. While I will work with them, I am not IT. If you have questions or issues that are IT based, I will pass you on to their expert tutelage. If this helps, I am "IS not IT." As the school year begins, my primary focus will be establishing a solid structure for our LearnPads. Initially this will include a fair amount of online organization. After that, there will be a multitude of ways we can connect to ensure your students are using and learning from the content we are able to push to their LearnPads. I would like to work with a select group of individuals from all three elementary sites to create a committee willing to help with various trainings, tutorials, and troubleshooting talks. As I know more, I'll share more with you. For now, I intend to be as visible and available as possible as I get the online side of our new technology in order. Interrupt me, ask me questions, invite me into your classroom. Let's work together to unleash the learning potential provided with our tech tools.
