Today marked the first day I was back in front of elementary school students since I left my twenty-six fourth graders in classroom D3 at Joe Henderson in Benicia, CA.
It was sooooo great to be back - albeit briefly. I was able to introduce myself to a couple third grade classes today at Pinecrest Elementary. Joining one class for the pledges, and another for their morning meeting, it was a thrilling few minutes for me. Right now, I'm certain, I am just 'that new teacher guy' to many of the students I met. That's fine. I like that. Hopefully, as the year progresses, they will remember my name (Mr. Leiser - pronounced Lie-zer) and get excited when they see me in their building. It is my hope that seeing me around gets them excited about using our classroom technology learning tools. Namely, tablets. If they feel a fraction of the thrill I felt this morning as I met them in their classroom, then I know I have done my job. Do I miss being a classroom teacher? Of course! But being an Integra, dedicated to learning in an awesome new way, is far more thrilling. So, if you do see me around your site, snag me and allow me to introduce myself to your students. I intend to spark some excitement for future learning tech-xcellence.
